Scanning turns your phone into a fast, error-proof way to work with serialized materials: capture serials, find items, and verify units without typing a thing.
What you can do with scanning
Read barcodes or QR codes with the camera to capture the serial number without typing it.
Find and identify serialized materials within your own stock or a material operation.
Verify units during receipts, deliveries, returns, installations, or consumption.
Record the replacement serial when you swap or rectify a piece of equipment, keeping full traceability.
Capture MAC addresses and use NFC where supported.
The scanned code must contain the exact serial registered in Sytex — that's what lets the app identify the material correctly.
Use case 1: Site or warehouse inventory
Step 1 — Create a material operation. From the desktop, go to Activities → Material operations, choose Site inventory or Input, and complete the remaining fields.
Step 2 — Add a material and scan. In the app, open the operation, tap Add new item, and choose the material. Use your device's camera to scan its barcode: the app recognizes the material and lets you enter the serial and any other details.
The material must be created with the Allow serial number setting enabled.

Use case 2: Material movement by barcode
Step 1 — Create the operation. Set up the material operation from the desktop (for example, a movement between locations).
Step 2 — Load by scanning. In the app, use your device's camera to scan each material's barcode. Sytex identifies the item and fills in the necessary details automatically.
That's it: scanning keeps your material data fast to capture and accurate, with the serial as the single source of truth.
