The sales order represents what's agreed with the client and lets you relate its line items to the work performed.
Create a sales order
Access: Finance → Sales orders
Select New sales order .
Fill in: client and project; issue date; type (services or materials); currency and exchange rate; the client's purchase order code, if any; owners, payment terms, and comments.
Add the items with quantity, price, taxes, and total.
Save the order.
Link items to tasks
After saving, use the linking tool to relate each item to the tasks that represent the sold work. The rule can be set two ways:
One task per unit stated in the item.
A single task to cover the whole item.
Completing those tasks determines how much of the item becomes available for a sales invoice approval.
Sales orders have no status flow of their own. Their progress is driven by task linking and completion, and by the associated invoice approvals.
